British Book Awards 2021 Announcement

SRL Publishing are pleased to announce they have been shortlisted for the 2021 British Book Awards making the shortlist for Small Press of the Year for the second year running. In a strong showing for the United Kingdom and Ireland publishing scene, more than 40 publishers have been listed in the shortlists, sponsored by CPI Group.

The British Book Awards are unique in recognising that a book’s success is not down to just one factor. It is the authors creative genius; the publishers’ skill and support; and the support of the local bookshops.

Philip Jones, editor of The Bookseller, said: “After a year like no other, the shortlist shows the strength, breadth and durability of small press publishing across the United Kingdom and Ireland. These businesses fended off bookshop closures, the loss of author events, and the national lockdowns to deliver an incredible set of results with book sales up, diverse publishing on the rise, and new business opportunities taken. The shortlist speaks to how driven and agile these businesses are, but also how well supported they are by readers, booksellers, and their authors and illustrators.”

The British Book Awards, or Nibbies, launched in 1990, are the country’s most prestigious literary awards, administered by The Bookseller. The winner, will be announced at the online awards ceremony on 13th May.
