SRL Publishing, are celebrating an end to their first year of partnership with Rainforest Trust UK by announcing they have saved over half a million trees from deforestation.
At the beginning of 2019, SRL Publishing partnered with one of the worlds’ most effective conservation charities and have since helped save over 2,500 acres of rainforest. Rainforest Trust ensures the long-term protection of vital ecosystems through long-term partnerships with local communities and trusted partner organisations. The charity has already saved over 23 million acres of rainforest, with another 26 million acres in the pipeline.
SRL Publishing is supporting rainforest protection in Peru, where Rainforest Trust are working with 200 indigenous communities to provide legal protection for over 6 million acres of the Amazon Rainforest. SRL Publishing are raising money for Rainforest Trust UK through their book, A Tree For Me, which is about Sebastian the Gibbon, who unfortunately loses his home to deforestation. For each copy of A Tree For Me that is sold, SRL Publishing have been donating a percentage of their profits to Rainforest Trust to ensure the long-term protection of our ecosystems.
Chris Redston, Executive Director of Rainforest Trust UK , said, “We are proud to have SRL Publishing as one of our Conservation Circle partners, and I would like to thank this excellent British publishing house for its generous contributions to rainforest protection throughout 2019. Rainforest Trust have already protected over 23 million acres of threatened rainforest for endangered wildlife, indigenous communities and the climate, and with the help of businesses like SRL Publishing we aim to protect many more in 2020 and beyond.”
With their books, SRL Publishing aim to break the silence between friends and families and help open conversations about difficult subjects. Previous released books touched upon bereavement, selective mutism and depression, and have now moved towards climate change. SRL Publishing only use FSC® certified paper for their books, which also is Chain of Command certified, meaning the fibre in every page of every book published can be tracked. This ensures the integrity of the paper supply chain, and that the paper used in 100% of their books is sourced from responsibly managed forests. SRL Publishing expects each of its paper suppliers to be environmentally responsible as well, and not use papers sourced from endangered old growth forests, forests of exceptional conservation value, or the Amazon Basin. SRL Publishing has won the Peoples Book Award for two of these books, has won the UKs’ Best Small Publisher at the 2018 Global Business Insight Awards and was shortlisted at the 2019 British Business Awards for best Sustainable Business Practices.
