Mandy was born into a forces family in Scotland in the 1960s, she had an interest in writing from an early age and was the first person in her family to go to University where studied Sociology and Social Psychology at Lancaster. She met her husband John in 1986 when she went to study social work at Hull University and he introduced her to the joys of living with cats. Moving back to Scotland in 1994, Mandy began writing children’s books, having had a life long passion for children’s literature herself. Her favourite authors include Joan Aitkin, Frances Hodgson Burnett and Michael Morpurgo. Unable to have children themselves, Mandy and her husband have enjoyed long careers in children and families social work. Mandy currently works for Argyll and Bute council as a Service Improvement Officer and lives in the countryside near Oban with her husband, five cats and nine chickens.
Our trees update
Throughout 2019 we saved over 500,000 trees from deforestation.
We have now turned to planting trees, and have planted over 6,300 trees and reduced over 147 tonnes of carbon emissions. Check out our Mission page to learn more.
